Rezumat: This paper presents an experimental stand for testing different types of heat exchangers. The stand was built according to the European Standard SR EN 442/1996: Radiators and Convectors. Technical Specifications and Requirements. Test Methods and Rating. Evaluation of Conformity. This project is funded by the CE Ex National Research Program, launched by the Education & Research Ministry. This experimental stand aims to determine the thermal output in different operating conditions for radiators and convectors, so it is adequately equipped in order to reach and maintain the steady state regime, which is compulsory prior to any experimental data acquiring. As opposed to the classical method, indicated by the Romanian Standard 11247/2 - 79, regarding to the test booth construction, the European Standard SR EN 442/1996 indicates a new system, consisting of sandwich panels cooled by water. The panels are assembled so that the structure is self supporting; each panel is supplied with a variable cooled water flow rate, capable to accommodate any desired operating conditions. The measuring and checking instruments and devices provide high accuracy and safe documentation of measurements data and all the values may be recorded as electric values. As a consequence of complying to all the requirements of this European Standard, the measurement uncertainty associated to the thermal output experimental determination tends to take low values.
