Abstract: This paper reports on basic elements of energy and exergy analyses performed on solar collectors. The initial analysis on solar thermal collector was extended to hybrid solar panels (photovoltaic/thermal) and later on supplemental thermal elements (TEG). The analyses reveal that radiation is the most important energy loss factor, due to the large temperature difference between the collector surface and the sky. Also, most of the incident solar exergy is destructed within the system due to irreversibility. Authors propose, as a more complex analysis method of solar collector systems, to include economic, environmental and life-cycle analysis elements
